The Vision of the Pushpaka and Lanka’s Jewel-like Mansions
नियुज्यमानास्तु गजाः सुहस्ताः सकेसराश्चोत्पलपत्रहस्ताः।बभूवदेवी च कृता सुहस्तालक्ष्मी स्तथा पद्मिनि पद्महस्ता।।5.7.14।।
niyujyamānās tu gajāḥ su-hastāḥ sa-kesarāś cotpala-patra-hastāḥ | babhūva devī ca kṛtā su-hastā lakṣmīs tathā padminī padma-hastā ||
Di sana ditempatkan gambaran gajah-gajah dengan belalai yang elok, memegang teratai biru lengkap dengan kelopak dan seratnya. Dewi Lakṣmī pun digambarkan—bertangan indah, laksana teratai—di kolam teratai, memegang teratai di tangannya.
He saw on it lotus ponds, artificial elephants with shapely trunks, offering to Laxmi who herself was a lotus, holding in her beautiful hands blue lotuses shining with filaments.
A dharmic reflection emerges by contrast: symbols of prosperity (Lakṣmī) appear amid an adharma-ruled domain, reminding that wealth and sacred imagery do not by themselves guarantee righteousness.
Hanumān notices ornate depictions of elephants and the goddess Lakṣmī in the artistic décor of the place he is examining.
Clear judgment—he does not confuse external grandeur with moral worth.
