पञ्चदशः सर्गः — देवकृत-प्रार्थना, रावणवधोपायः, विष्णोः मानुषावतारनियोजनम्
Sarga 15: The Devas’ Petition, the Means to Slay Ravana, and Vishnu’s Commission to Incarnate as Man
भयं त्यजत भद्रं वो हितार्थं युधि रावणम्।सपुत्रपौत्रं सामात्यं समित्रज्ञातिबान्धवम्।।1.15.27।।हत्वा क्रूरं दुरात्मानं देवर्षीणां भयावहम्।दशवर्षसहस्राणि दशवर्षशतानि च।वत्स्यामि मानुषे लोके पालयन्पृथिवीमिमाम्।।1.15.28।।
hatvā krūraṁ durātmānaṁ devarṣīṇāṁ bhayāvaham | daśavarṣasahasrāṇi daśavarṣaśatāni ca | vatsyāmi mānuṣe loke pālayan pṛthivīm imām || 1.15.28 ||
Setelah menewaskan si kejam dan durjana itu—yang menjadi kengerian para dewa dan resi ilahi—aku akan berdiam di dunia manusia selama sepuluh ribu tahun dan seribu tahun lagi, sambil melindungi bumi ini.
Lord Visnu, supreme soul having given boon to devatas in this manner, reflected as to the place where he should take birth as a man in this world of men.
