Maricha’s Mimic Cry and the Rama–Lakshmana–Sita Confrontation
एवमुक्तो हि वैदेह्या संरब्धो रक्तलोचनः।क्रोधात्प्रस्फुरमाणोष्ठ आश्रमादभिनिर्गतः।।।।
evam ukto hi vaidehyā saṃrabdho rakta-locanaḥ | krodhāt prasphuramāṇoṣṭha āśramād abhinirgataḥ ||
Demikian ditegur oleh Vaidehī, aku pun murka; mataku memerah, bibirku bergetar karena amarah, lalu aku keluar dari pertapaan.
At these words from the princess of Videha, I came out of the hermitage in an agitated mood with my eyes turned red and lips quivering in anger.
It signals the danger of krodha (anger): dharma requires self-control, since righteous duty can be derailed when one acts from wounded pride or rage.
After being harshly accused by Sītā, Lakṣmaṇa reacts emotionally and steps out of the hermitage.
The need for kṣamā (forbearance) and inner discipline—especially in servants of dharma who are tested by unjust blame.
