Agastya Directs Rama to Panchavati
Both the princes, unafraid of battles, held their bows, tied the quivers and carefully proceeded towards Panchavati along the path suggested by the sage.ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē araṇyakāṇḍē trayōdaśassargaḥ৷৷Thus ends the thirteenth sarga of Aranyakanda of the holy Ramayana the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
Exemplarity in dharma: a virtuous life becomes a model for others, as Sītā is compared to Arundhatī, a standard of marital fidelity.
Agastya concludes his contrastive description by affirming that Sītā does not share the alleged faults and is an ideal wife.
Sītā’s purity of conduct, steadfastness, and praiseworthy fidelity (pativratā-ideal).
