FAQs

It emphasizes saṁskāra-dharma: sacred life-rites must be performed with śāstra-guided order (vidhi), with a qualified brāhmaṇa and consecrated materials, so that the act becomes a sanctifying religious rite rather than a merely social event.

Though the verse is primarily ritual, its bhakti implication is obedience to dharma as an offering—performing prescribed rites carefully (with agni and proper conduct) is a form of reverent service that aligns household life with devotion and purity.

Kalpa (ritual procedure) is foregrounded: it lists core ritual requisites—ghee, water, kuśa, and agni—and insists on performing the vivāha according to vidhi under a brāhmaṇa’s guidance.
