The Narrative of the Pativrata
Narrator (Purāṇic narrative voice; traditionally Sūta reporting the account)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: karuna
It depicts a purāṇic motif where a supernatural force (a wind) is deliberately created to disturb peace and rest, illustrating how agitation (kṣobha) obstructs steadiness and spiritual composure.
By contrast: devotion requires steadiness of mind and regulated life; the verse shows the opposite condition—restlessness and sleeplessness—highlighting why bhakti practices emphasize calmness, purity, and restraint.
Indirectly, it points to the importance of proper observance and discipline in ritual life (kalpa-oriented conduct); disturbed sleep and agitation are presented as obstacles to regular vrata and pūjā routines.
