प्रीयते देवतानां वै दद्याद् वै द्विजमुख्यके । वाचके तु सुसंतुष्टे तुष्टा: स्यु: सर्वदेवता:,विराटपर्वकी कथा सुनकर अपने वैभवके अनुसार भाँति-भाँतिके वस्त्र, सुवर्ण, धान्य और गौ--ये वस्तुएँ देवताओंकी प्रसन्नताके लिये श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मणोंको दान करनी चाहिये। वाचकके भलीभाँति संतुष्ट होनेपर सब देवता संतुष्ट होते हैं। तत्पश्चात् यथाशक्ति घी और मिश्री मिलायी हुई खीरका ब्राह्णोंको भोजन करावे। इस विधिसे विराटपर्व सुननेपर श्रोताको उत्तम फलकी प्राप्ति होती है
vaiśampāyana uvāca | prīyate devatānāṃ vai dadyād vai dvijamukhyake | vācake tu susantuṣṭe tuṣṭāḥ syuḥ sarvadevatāḥ ||
Waiśampāyana berkata: Untuk menyenangkan para dewa, hendaknya seseorang sungguh-sungguh memberi derma kepada brāhmaṇa yang utama. Bila sang pelantun kisah telah sepenuhnya puas, maka semua dewa pun menjadi puas.
