शमीवृक्षस्थायुधप्रकाशनम् / Revelation and Identification of the Weapons on the Śamī Tree
ब॒ह्न्नलोवाच भयेन दीनरूपो<सि द्विषतां हर्षवर्धन: । न च तावत् कृतं कर्म परैः किंचिद् रणाजिरे,बृहन्नलाने कहा--राजकुमार! तुम भयके कारण दीन होकर शत्रुओंका हर्ष बढ़ा रहे हो। अभी तो शत्रुओंने युद्धके मैदानमें कोई पराक्रम भी नहीं प्रकट किया है
bṛhannalovāca bhayena dīnarūpo 'si dviṣatāṃ harṣavardhanaḥ | na ca tāvat kṛtaṃ karma paraiḥ kiñcid raṇājire ||
Bṛhannalā berkata: “Karena takut engkau tampak begitu hina, menambah kegembiraan musuh. Padahal sejauh ini pihak lawan belum melakukan apa pun di medan perang.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Fear and visible dejection empower opponents; steadiness and self-command are part of a warrior’s dharma, especially before the enemy has even shown real prowess.
Disguised as Bṛhannalā, Arjuna rebukes the prince for panicking at the prospect of battle, pointing out that the enemy has not yet achieved anything on the field and urging him to regain composure.
