Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the moral consequence of wrath: anger that drives conflict results in the suffering of innocents—especially families—who are left to mourn slain relatives, friends, and protectors.

Vaiśampāyana narrates a warning addressed to a woman (bhīru/bhāmini): because of her anger, others—described as women deprived of kin, allies, and strength—will be left lamenting in the aftermath of violence.
