Sañjaya’s Knowledge of Keśava and the Discipline of Indriya-nigraha

Victory is not merely a matter of force or strategy; it follows the side grounded in truth (satya), dharma, steadfast integrity (dhīratā), and straightforward conduct (ārjava). Kṛṣṇa/Govinda symbolizes the divine alignment with these virtues—so where they are, his presence and thus success are assured.
In the Udyoga Parva’s lead-up to war, Sañjaya articulates a moral principle to frame the coming conflict: divine support (identified with Kṛṣṇa as Govinda) rests with ethical conduct. The statement functions as a judgment about which side is truly supported and therefore destined to prevail.
