भीष्मस्वप्न-स्मृत्युपाख्यानम् | Bhīṣma’s Dream-Linked Recollection of the Paraśurāma Combat
तामब्रवीच्च कौरव्य मम माता जले स्थिता । किमर्थ क्लिश्यसे भद्रे तथ्यमेव वदस्व मे
tām abravīc ca kauravya mama mātā jale sthitā | kimarthaṁ kliśyase bhadre tathyam eva vadasva me ||
Rāma berkata: “Wahai keturunan Kuru, ibuku berdiri di dalam air. Untuk alasan apa engkau menyiksa dirimu, wahai wanita mulia? Katakanlah yang benar kepadaku—ucapkan dengan terus terang.”
राम उवाच
The verse foregrounds satya (truthfulness) and compassionate clarity: one should not prolong suffering through concealment or self-torment, but speak the truth directly when duty and concern require it.
Rāma addresses a Kuru-descended woman, noting that his mother is standing in water (suggesting distress or a vow/penance), and urges the woman to explain honestly why she is suffering and what the real situation is.
