Educational Q&A

The verse presents an ethical ideal: generosity joined with unwavering truthfulness, universal benevolence, and disciplined obedience to legitimate authority—especially one’s father and the dharmic guidance of learned Brāhmaṇas.

Vāyu is describing a person’s character by listing virtues and conduct: he is portrayed as charitable, faithful to truth and promises, committed to the good of all beings, and living according to the instructions of his father and the prescriptions upheld by Brāhmaṇas.
