भीष्मद्रोणयोर्दुर्योधनं प्रति शमोपदेशः | Bhīṣma and Droṇa’s Counsel of Conciliation to Duryodhana
युक्तमेतन्महा भागे कुले जाते यशस्विनि । यन्मे पुत्रेषु सर्वेषु यथावत् त्वमवर्तिथा:
yuktam etan mahābhāge kule jāte yaśasvini | yan me putreṣu sarveṣu yathāvat tvam avartithāḥ ||
Sungguh pantas, wahai wanita mulia dan termasyhur, yang lahir dalam wangsa ternama: engkau telah berlaku sebagaimana mestinya, sesuai dharma, terhadap semua putraku.
पुत्र उवाच
Right conduct (yathāvat) toward family members, guided by dharma, is praised as the natural expression of noble character and good upbringing; ethical behavior is presented as ‘fitting’ (yuktam) for one born in an illustrious lineage.
A son addresses a noble woman and commends her for behaving appropriately, in accordance with dharma, toward all of his sons—framing her conduct as worthy of her fortunate status and renowned family.
