भीष्मद्रोणयोर्दुर्योधनं प्रति शान्त्युपदेशः | Bhīṣma and Droṇa’s Counsel to Duryodhana for Pacification
इस प्रकार श्रीमहाभारत उद्योगपर्वके अन्तर्गत भगवद्यानपर्वमें भगवद्वाक्यसमग्बन्धी एक सौ चौबीसवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ ॥/ १२४ ॥/ [दाक्षिणात्य अधिक पाठका ह “लोक मिलाकर कुल ६२ इ “लोक हैं।] #स्न्मा रन () आजमाने पजञ्चविशर्त्याधेकशततमो< ध्याय: भीष्म
vaiśampāyana uvāca | tataḥ śāntanavo bhīṣmo duryodhanam amarṣaṇam | keśavasya vacaḥ śrutvā provāca bharatarṣabha ||
Waiśampāyana berkata: Lalu Bhīṣma, putra Śantanu, setelah mendengar sabda Keśava, menegur Duryodhana—yang mendidih oleh ketidaksabaran dan amarah—seraya berkata, “Wahai yang terbaik di antara kaum Bharata!” Demikianlah, sesudah nasihat Kṛṣṇa, para sesepuh kembali berusaha menahan Duryodhana dari jalan adharma; ketegangan antara petuah bijak dan kesombongan yang keras kepala kian mendorong langkah menuju perang.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Elders who understand dharma must speak plainly when a ruler is driven by anger and intolerance; yet the verse also highlights a moral tragedy—wise counsel can be offered, but it may fail against entrenched pride, setting the stage for adharma and war.
After Kṛṣṇa (Keśava) has spoken, Bhīṣma hears those words and then turns to address Duryodhana, who is described as ‘amarṣaṇa’ (unable to endure, resentful). This introduces Bhīṣma’s admonition sequence aimed at preventing the impending conflict.
