स्त्रीपर्व — नवमोऽध्यायः | Dhṛtarāṣṭra summons the Kuru women; the city departs in collective lamentation
तथैव कौरवो राजा धर्मपुत्रो महामना: । कृपप्रभृतयश्चैव किमकुर्वत ते त्रय:
tathaiva kauravo rājā dharmaputro mahāmanāḥ | kṛpaprabhṛtayaś caiva kim akurvata te trayaḥ ||
Janamejaya bertanya: “Demikian pula, apakah yang dilakukan raja Kuru Yudhiṣṭhira—Dharmaputra yang berhati agung—serta mereka yang dipimpin oleh Kṛpa? Tindakan apakah yang dilakukan oleh ketiga orang itu?”
जनमेजय उवाच
The verse frames ethical inquiry: after catastrophic violence, attention turns to what the righteous king and elders actually do—highlighting accountability, right conduct, and the search for dharmic response in the war’s aftermath.
Janamejaya continues questioning the narrator about subsequent events: he asks what Yudhiṣṭhira (Dharmaputra) and the group led by Kṛpa did, referring to “those three,” i.e., three key figures under discussion in the surrounding passage.
