Yuddha-yajña-vyākhyāna (The Battle as Sacrifice): Ambarīṣa–Indra Saṃvāda

तृणपूर्णमुखश्चैव तवास्मीति च यो वदेत्‌ । युद्धमें वृद्ध, बालक और स्त्रियोंका वध नहीं करना चाहिये, किसी भागते हुएकी पीठमें आघात नहीं करना चाहिये, जो मुँहमें तिनका लिये शरण में आ जाय और कहने लगे कि मैं आपका ही हूँ, उसका भी वध नहीं करना चाहिये || ४८ $ ।।

tṛṇapūrṇamukhaś caiva tavāsmīti ca yo vadet |

Bahkan orang yang datang dengan mulut berisi rumput—tanda menyerah—dan berkata, “Aku milikmu,” tidak boleh dibunuh.
