Yuddha-yajña-vyākhyāna (The Battle as Sacrifice): Ambarīṣa–Indra Saṃvāda
भर्तुरर्थे च यः शूरो विक्रमेद् वाहिनीमुखे
bharturarthe ca yaḥ śūro vikramed vāhinīmukhe
Ambarīṣa berkata: “Pahlawan yang demi tuannya maju dengan gagah ke barisan terdepan pasukan—keberanian demikian adalah tanda bakti setia dan tekad yang berlandas dharma.”
अम्बरीष उवाच
True heroism is defined not merely by fighting, but by steadfast loyalty and willingness to risk oneself for a rightful superior’s cause—an ethic of duty-bound courage.
In Śānti Parva’s discourse on dharma and conduct, Ambarīṣa describes the ideal brave man: one who, for his lord’s purpose, steps into the army’s forefront, exemplifying committed service in a martial context.
