The verse frames rājadharma as a disciplined way of life: a king’s true success is measured not only by immediate gains but by conduct that produces well-being both in this life and in the afterlife.
In Śānti Parva, Yudhiṣṭhira continues his inquiry to Bhīṣma, asking for practical guidance on what kind of personal and royal conduct enables a ruler to attain beneficial ends easily, with lasting happiness here and beyond death.
