The verse critiques empty boasting and highlights that social and moral realities cannot be erased by claims of total victory. It implies that truthfulness and humility are essential, and that fear-driven retreat contradicts proclamations of having eliminated all opponents.
Vāsudeva points out that the earth is again full of kṣatriyas, challenging the idea that they were completely destroyed. He frames the opponent’s retreat to the mountains as motivated by fear, thereby undermining the credibility of grand public claims.
