Paraśurāma’s origins and the depletion/restoration of kṣatriya lineages
क्षेपं सम्प्राप्तवांस्तत्र प्रकृत्या कोपन: प्रभु: । तदनन्तर कई हजार वर्ष बीत जानेपर एक दिन वहाँ स्वभावत: क्रोधी परशुरामपर आक्षेप किया गया
kṣepaṃ samprāptavāṃs tatra prakṛtyā kopanaḥ prabhuḥ |
Setelah berlalu ribuan tahun, pada suatu hari di sana, suatu penghinaan diarahkan kepada sang penguasa yang memang tabiatnya lekas murka, Paraśurāma.
वासुदेव उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical danger of provoking anger: harsh or contemptuous speech (kṣepa) can trigger disproportionate harm when directed at someone known to be irascible, so dharma favors restraint, tact, and de-escalation.
Vāsudeva narrates that, in that setting, an insult or reproach was made against a powerful figure who was naturally quick-tempered—identified in the accompanying Hindi gloss as Paraśurāma—setting the stage for ensuing conflict or repercussions.
