सम्प्राप्तस्यैव चाव्यग्रमावेद्योडहमिहागत: । ममाभिगमन प्राप्तो वाच्यक्ष वचन त्वया,ततः स विप्रस्तां नागीं समाधाय पुन: पुनः । तदेव पुलिन नद्या: प्रययौ ब्राह्मणर्षभ: तदनन्तर वह श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मण नागपत्नीको बारंबार (नागराजको भेजनेके लिये) जताकर गोमती नदीके तटपर ही चला गया
samprāptasyaiva cāvyagram āvedyodham ihāgataḥ | mamābhigamana-prāpto vācyakṣa vacanaṃ tvayā || tataḥ sa vipras tāṃ nāgīṃ samādhāya punaḥ punaḥ | tadeva pulinaṃ nadyāḥ prayayau brāhmaṇarṣabhaḥ ||
Sang brāhmaṇa berkata, “Aku telah tiba di sini tanpa kegelisahan dan telah menyampaikan perkara ini sebagaimana adanya. Karena engkau datang menemuiku, sampaikanlah pesan ini atas namaku.” Setelah berulang kali menasihati dan menenangkan perempuan nāga itu, brāhmaṇa terbaik tersebut kembali menuju tepi sungai yang sama, berjalan menyusuri hamparan pasir di bantaran sungai.
ब्राह्मण उवाच
The passage highlights steadiness of mind (avyagra) and responsible speech: one should convey a message faithfully and act with composure and care, even amid morally complex situations involving others’ welfare.
A brāhmaṇa, calm and composed, asks someone to relay his words. After repeatedly reassuring/instructing the nāga-woman, he departs again toward the river’s sandy bank, continuing his course of action.
