आराध्य तपसा देवं हरिं नारायणं प्रभुम् । दिव्यं वर्षमहस््रं वै सर्वे ते ऋषिभि: सह
ārādhya tapasā devaṃ hariṃ nārāyaṇaṃ prabhum | divyaṃ varṣa-sahasraṃ vai sarve te ṛṣibhiḥ saha ||
Bhishma berkata: Setelah memuja Dewa Hari—Nārāyaṇa, Sang Penguasa Tertinggi—melalui tapa, para resi itu bersama para pertapa lainnya menjalankan pertapaan selama genap seribu tahun ilahi. Berkenan atas bhakti dan pengendalian diri mereka, Sang Bhagavān mengutus Dewi Sarasvatī kepada mereka; dan atas titah Nārāyaṇa, demi kesejahteraan semua dunia, pada saat itu sang Dewi memasuki diri para resi tersebut—agar lahir wawasan suci dan ujaran yang membawa kebaikan bagi makhluk-makhluk.
भीष्म उवाच
Sustained tapas and sincere devotion to Nārāyaṇa draw divine grace; that grace manifests as Sarasvatī—right knowledge and beneficent speech—directed toward lokahita (the welfare of all worlds), not merely personal attainment.
A group of ṛṣis perform a thousand divine years of austerity worshipping Hari-Nārāyaṇa. Pleased, the Lord sends Sarasvatī, who—by his command—enters the sages so that inspired wisdom and speech may arise for the benefit of all beings.
