येन येन हि यस्यार्थ: कारणेनेह कर्मणि । तत्तदालम्बते सर्व: स्वे स्वे स्वार्थपरिग्रहे,अपने-अपने अभीष्ट अर्थकी सिद्धिके लिये जिस मनुष्यको जिस-जिस साधनभूत वस्तुसे प्रयोजन होता है, वे सभी अपना-अपना काम बनानेके लिये उन-उन वस्तुओंका आश्रय लेते हैं

Transliteration

yena yena hi yasyārthaḥ kāraṇeneha karmaṇi | tattad ālambate sarvaḥ sve sve svārthaparigrahe ||

Translation

Janaka berkata: Di dunia tindakan ini, sarana apa pun yang dianggap seseorang perlu untuk mencapai tujuan yang diinginkannya—pada sarana itulah ia bersandar. Sebab setiap orang, demi meraih maksudnya sendiri, mengambil perlindungan pada alat yang sesuai dengan tujuannya.
