Sāṃkhya–Yoga Distinction and Instruction on Yogic Strength

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights that true authority and effective action in sacred or morally charged contexts comes from inner greatness—discipline, spiritual merit, and rightful purpose—rather than from coercion. A ‘mahātmā’ gains entry and agency even in divine precincts through earned stature.

Bhīṣma narrates that the sage Uśanā (Śukra), descendant of Bhṛgu, enters a chamber associated with Maheśvara (Śiva) and then moves about/acts within it, indicating his presence and activity inside a divine or highly protected space.
