अध्याय २८६ — पराशर-उपदेशः

Ethical Restraint, Mortality, and Karma

एतद्‌ ब्रह्मन्‌ विजानामि महत्‌ कृत्वा तपोडव्ययम्‌ । तेन नारद सम्प्राप्तो न मां शोक: प्रबाधते

etad brahman vijānāmi mahat kṛtvā tapo 'vyayam | tena nārada samprāpto na māṃ śokaḥ prabādhate ||

Wahai Brahmana, pengetahuan ini kudapati dengan menjalani tapa yang agung dan tak berkurang. Karena itu, wahai Nārada, sekalipun sebab untuk berduka muncul, duka tidak dapat menguasai atau mengguncangku.
