स्मितं कृत्वाब्रवीद् वाक््यं ब्रूहि कि करवाणि ते । तब अनेक नेत्रोंवाले, शत्रुविजयी, महादेव अपने मुखोंद्वारा यत्नपूर्वक प्राण और अपान वायुको अवरुद्ध करके सम्पूर्ण दिशाओंमें दृष्टिपात करते हुए सहसा अग्निकुण्डसे निकल पड़े। प्रलयकालीन अग्निके समान तेजस्वी स्वरूपसे सहस्रों सूर्योकी प्रभा धारण किये वे दक्षके सामने खड़े हो गये और मुसकराकर बोले--'प्रजापते! बोलो, मैं आज तुम्हारा कौन- सा कार्य सिद्ध करूँ” || ५८-५९; || श्राविते च मखाध्याये देवानां गुरुणा तत:
