Kapila–Cow Dialogue: Authority of Householder and Renunciant Dharmas
ततः कदाचित तांस्तत्र पश्यन् पक्षीन् यतव्रतः । बभूव परमप्रीतस्तदा मतिमतां वर:
tataḥ kadācit tāṁs tatra paśyan pakṣīn yatavrataḥ | babhūva paramaprītas tadā matimatāṁ varaḥ ||
Kemudian pada suatu hari, ketika ia melihat anak-anak burung itu telah bersayap dan terbang di sana, Jājali—yang teguh menepati kaul dan utama di antara para bijak—diliputi sukacita yang besar.
भीष्म उवाच
Disciplined observance of vows (saṁyama and vrata) supports a life where beings can flourish without fear; joy arises not from possession or harm, but from restraint and harmonious coexistence.
Jājali, steadfast in his vows, watches the birds’ young grow and fly. He feels deep happiness, and the parent birds, pleased at their offspring’s maturity, remain there fearlessly with their young.
