Kapila–Cow Dialogue: Authority of Householder and Renunciant Dharmas
अण्डेभ्यस्त्वथ पुष्टेभ्य: प्राजायन्त शकुन्तका: । व्यवर्धन्त च तत्रैव न चाकम्पत जाजलि:,अण्डोंके पुष्ट होनेपर उन्हें फोड़कर बच्चे बाहर निकले और वहीं पलकर बड़े होने लगे, तथापि जाजलि मुनि हिले-डुले नहीं
aṇḍebhyas tv atha puṣṭebhyaḥ prājāyanta śakuntakāḥ | vyavardhanta ca tatraiva na cākampata jājaliḥ ||
Bhishma berkata: “Kemudian, ketika telur-telur itu telah cukup ternutrisi, anak-anak burung lahir dengan memecah cangkangnya. Mereka tumbuh besar di tempat itu juga; namun resi Jājali tetap tidak bergerak sedikit pun.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse teaches unwavering steadiness (dhṛti) and disciplined self-restraint: even when life unfolds around him and creatures are nurtured in his presence, the ascetic remains unmoved, exemplifying firmness in tapas and commitment to dharma.
Eggs that had been incubated and nourished hatch; the fledglings emerge and grow in the same place. Despite this activity and the passage of time, the sage Jājali does not move at all, underscoring his extreme stillness and austerity.
