अहिंसा-प्रधान धर्मविचारः

Ahiṃsā as the Superior Dharma: Practical and Scriptural Reasoning

तामब्रवीत्‌ तदा देवी मृत्यो संहर मानवान्‌ । अधर्मस्ते न भविता तथा ध्यास्याम्यहं शुभे,तब ब्रह्माजीने उससे कहा--'मृत्यो! तुम मनुष्योंका संहार करो, तुम्हें पाप नहीं लगेगा। शुभे! मैं तुम्हारे लिये शुभ चिन्तन करता रहूँगा

tām abravīt tadā devī mṛtyo saṁhara mānavān | adharmas te na bhavitā tathā dhyāsyāmy ahaṁ śubhe ||

Lalu Brahmā berkata kepada sang dewi: “Wahai Maut, ambillah nyawa manusia. Tiada adharma akan melekat padamu karenanya. Wahai yang mulia, aku akan senantiasa meneguhkanmu dalam perenungan yang membawa berkah (dan menopangmu).”
