भीष्म उवाच
Attachment to sense-objects leads beings into ongoing distress, while non-attachment and mastery over the senses is praised as the path of the great-souled, culminating in the highest spiritual end (paramā gati).
In the Shanti Parva dialogue, Bhishma continues instructing King Yudhishthira on dharma and inner discipline, contrasting the fate of those bound by sensory cravings with those who cultivate detachment and thus progress toward liberation.
