Adhyāya 214: Tapas Redefined—Perpetual Discipline, Hospitality, and the Ethics of Eating (तपः-निरूपणम्, विघसाशी-अतिथिप्रिय-धर्मः)

अत-४_-णकात चतुर्देशाधिकद्विशततमो< ध्याय: ब्रह्मचर्य तथा वैराग्यसे मुक्ति भीष्म उवाच अत्रोपायं प्रवक्ष्यामि यथावच्छास्त्रचक्षुषा । तत्त्वज्ञानाच्चरन्‌ राजन प्राप्तुयात्परमां गतिम्‌

bhīṣma uvāca | atropāyaṃ pravakṣyāmi yathāvacchāstracakṣuṣā | tattvajñānāccaran rājan prāpnuyāt paramāṃ gatim ||

Bhīṣma bersabda: Wahai Raja, kini akan kujelaskan, dengan pandangan jernih menurut śāstra, jalan yang tepat menuju pembebasan. Seseorang yang menjalankan kewajiban yang ditetapkan śāstra dengan sikap tanpa pamrih, dan hidup dalam terang pengetahuan hakiki, dapat mencapai keadaan tertinggi.
