जनकस्य मोक्षमार्गप्रश्नः तथा पञ्चशिखोपदेश-प्रस्तावः | Janaka’s Path to Liberation: Prelude to Pañcaśikha’s Instruction

यथाश्व॒त्थकणीकायामन्तर्भूतो महाद्रुम: । निष्पन्नो दृश्यते व्यक्तमव्यक्तात्‌ सम्भवस्तथा,जैसे पीपलके छोटे-से बीजमें एक विशाल वृक्ष अव्यक्तरूपसे समाया हुआ है, जो बीजके उगनेपर वृक्षरूपमें परिणत हो प्रत्यक्ष दिखायी देता है, उसी प्रकार अव्यक्तसे व्यक्त जगतकी उत्पत्ति होती है

yathāśvatthakaṇīkāyām antarbhūto mahādrumaḥ | niṣpanno dṛśyate vyaktam avyaktāt sambhavas tathā ||

Bhīṣma berkata: Seperti pohon aśvattha (beringin suci) yang besar tersembunyi secara tak-termanifest di dalam bijinya yang amat kecil, lalu ketika bertunas ia menjadi manifest dan tampak jelas—demikian pula dunia yang manifest muncul dari Yang Tak-Termanifest.

Educational Q&A

The visible, differentiated world (vyakta) emerges from an unseen, subtle source (avyakta), just as a vast tree is present in potential within a minute seed and becomes perceptible only when it develops.
