Adhyāya 2: Nārada’s Disclosure—Karṇa’s Training and the Brahmin’s Curse (Śānti-parva)
The verse emphasizes disciplined listening and receptivity to instruction: a sacred or ethically significant account should be heard with attention, especially when it concerns divine or confidential matters that illuminate dharma.
Nārada begins a disclosure: he announces that he will reveal a hidden matter connected with the gods and urges the listener—addressed respectfully as “blameless” and “mighty-armed”—to hear the ancient account carefully and accurately.
