Adhyāya 199: Karma–Jñāna Causality and the Nirguṇa Brahman
Manu’s Instruction
यास्यसि ब्रह्मण: स्थानमनिमित्तमनिन्दितम् । साधये भविता चैतद् यत्त्वयाहमिहार्थिता
yāsyasi brahmaṇaḥ sthānam animittam aninditam | sādhaye bhavitā caitad yat tvayāham ihārthitā ||
“Engkau akan mencapai kediaman Brahmā—tanpa sebab yang mengikat dan tanpa cela. Dan ini pun akan terjadi: tujuan yang karenanya engkau memohon kepadaku di sini akan terpenuhi.”

Bhīṣma gives a twofold assurance: (1) the listener’s spiritual destiny is exalted—attaining the blameless, unconditioned ‘abode of Brahmā’; and (2) the practical aim for which Bhīṣma has been requested to speak will indeed be accomplished. In the Śānti Parva’s instruction-setting, Bhīṣma addresses the inquirer (implicitly Yudhiṣṭhira) and affirms both the inquirer’s future attainment and the successful completion of the purpose behind the request for Bhīṣma’s teachings.
