Adhyāya 174: Karma as an inescapable companion (कर्मानुगमन-उपदेश)
ततो<भ्ययाद् देवराजो विरूपाक्षपुरं तदा । प्राह चेद॑ विरूपाक्षं दिष्टया संजीवितस्त्वया
tato 'bhyayād devarājo virūpākṣapuraṃ tadā | prāha ced virūpākṣaṃ diṣṭyā saṃjīvitastvayā ||
Lalu pada saat itu juga, Indra, raja para dewa, datang ke kota Virūpākṣa. Ia berkata kepada Virūpākṣa: “Sungguh suatu keberuntungan besar bahwa melalui engkau Bakarāja telah dihidupkan kembali.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical value of preserving life and recognizes such an act as auspicious (diṣṭyā). Indra’s praise frames life-restoration as a deed worthy of divine approval, implying that dharmic action brings honor and blessing.
Indra arrives at Virūpākṣa’s city and formally addresses Virūpākṣa, congratulating him that Bakrāja has been brought back to life through Virūpākṣa’s agency.
