Wahai Bhārata! Gautama berkata kepadanya, “Wahai orang bijak, aku miskin. Dengan hasrat pergi ke tepi samudra demi memperoleh harta, aku telah berangkat dari rumah.”

Material need (poverty) may motivate action, but the text highlights that one should articulate and examine one’s intention—seeking wealth for a purpose—without abandoning dharma; ethical livelihood depends on right means as well as right ends.
In Bhīṣma’s discourse, the sage Gautama explains his situation to another person: he is poor and has set out intending to go to the seashore to acquire wealth, addressing the listener as “Bhārata.”
