भीष्म उवाच
The colophon frames the chapter as instruction in Āpaddharma—how one should reason and act when normal rules are strained by crisis—using an animal dialogue to sharpen ethical discernment and a dramatic episode (revival of a dead child) to underscore the gravity of conduct, compassion, and the consequences of right or wrong action.
This verse is a concluding notice (colophon) stating that the chapter has ended. It identifies the chapter’s main contents: a dialogue between a jackal and a gomāyuka, and an account concerning the revival of a dead child, all situated within the Āpaddharma portion of the Śānti Parva.
