Kośa, Bala, and Maryādā: Treasury, Capacity, and Enforceable Limits (कोश-बल-मर्यादा)
अविज्ञानादयोगो हि पुरुषस्पोपजायते । विज्ञानादपि योगश्व योगो भूतिकर: पर:
avijñānād ayogo hi puruṣasyopajāyate | vijñānād api yogaś ca yogo bhūtikaraḥ paraḥ ||
Karena ketiadaan pemahaman sejati, pada diri seseorang timbul ayoga—ketidakmampuan menerapkan tindakan yang tepat ketika kesulitan datang. Tetapi dari pemahaman, upāya yang sesuai menjadi diketahui; dan upāya yang dipilih dengan tepat serta dijalankan itulah sebab tertinggi bagi kemakmuran dan kesejahteraan.
भीष्म उवाच
Ignorance produces 'ayoga'—the failure to find or apply the right course of action—whereas knowledge reveals the proper means; such rightly applied means is the supreme cause of prosperity and well-being.
In Shanti Parva, Bhishma instructs Yudhishthira on dharma and practical governance. Here he emphasizes that clear understanding is what enables effective action in times of crisis, and that correct action grounded in knowledge leads to flourishing.
