Daṇḍotpatti-kathana (Origin and Function of Daṇḍa) — वसुहोम–मान्धातृ संवाद

अपि चैतत्‌ पुरा राजन्‌ मनुना प्रोक्तमादित:

api caitat purā rājan manunā proktam āditaḥ

Bhishma berkata: “Lagi pula, wahai Raja, prinsip ini telah diajarkan sejak dahulu oleh Manu: bila seorang penguasa bersikap seimbang terhadap yang menyenangkan maupun yang tidak, tidak memihak siapa pun, menerapkan hukuman dengan tepat, dan melindungi rakyat dengan baik—maka tindakan pemerintahannya itu sendiri adalah dharma semata.”
