भীমेन युधिष्ठिरस्य त्यागवृत्तेः प्रतिषेधः

Bhīma’s Rebuttal of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Renunciatory Inclination

यथा<55रुह्मु महावृक्षमपह्त्य ततो मधु । अप्राश्य निधन गच्छेत्‌ कर्मेदे नस्तथोपमम्‌,जैसे कोई विशाल वृक्षपर आरूढ़ हो वहाँसे मधु उतार लाये परंतु उसे खानेके पूर्व ही उसकी मृत्यु हो जाय; हमारा यह प्रयत्न भी वैसा ही हो रहा है इति श्रीमहाभारते शान्तिपर्वणि राजधर्मानुशासनपर्वणि भीमवाक्ये दशमो< ध्याय: ।।

Bhīma uvāca — yathāruhyā mahāvṛkṣam apahṛtya tato madhu | aprāśya nidhanaṁ gacchet karmedaṁ nas tathopamam ||

Seperti seseorang yang memanjat pohon raksasa, menurunkan madu darinya, namun mati sebelum sempat mengecapnya—demikian pula upaya kita kini: buahnya telah diraih, tetapi kita terputus sebelum menikmatinya.
