अथ स्थितानां पाण्डूनां दीनानां भरतर्षभ | तस्माद् देशादपक्रम्य त्वरिता लुब्धका विभो
atha sthitānāṃ pāṇḍūnāṃ dīnānāṃ bharatarṣabha | tasmād deśād apakramya tvaritā lubdhakā vibho ||
Wahai banteng di antara kaum Bharata! Melihat para Pāṇḍava berdiri di sana dalam kesedihan, para pemburu yang digerakkan oleh ketamakan segera menarik diri dari tempat itu, wahai yang perkasa.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how greed and opportunism (implied by lubdhakāḥ) collapse in the face of visible suffering and danger; it implicitly contrasts noble endurance in adversity with self-interested flight.
Sañjaya reports that the Pāṇḍavas are standing in a dejected state, and the hunters present there hastily leave that location, withdrawing from the scene.
