with Omens and Bhīma’s Counter

The verse highlights how decisive action and mastery in combat can shift the emotional climate of war: a single swift feat becomes a public signal of dominance, affecting morale and intensifying the collective response of onlookers.
Sanjaya reports that, amid battle, a warrior swiftly severs an opponent’s equipment; the crowd erupts in loud cries. In the immediate continuation (as preserved in the Gita Press prose gloss), Nakula breaks Satyasena’s bow and hand-protectors, prompting widespread tumult.
