अध्याय ९ — दुर्योधनस्य अन्त्यावस्था, विलापः, तथा सौप्तिक-प्रतिवृत्तम्
Duryodhana’s Final Condition, Lamentation, and the Night’s Report
यद् वै त्वां नानुगच्छामस्तेन धक्ष्यामहे वयम् | तत् स्वर्गहीना हीनार्था: स्मरन्त: सुकृतस्य ते,“राजन्! परम गतिको जाते समय आपके पीछे-पीछे जो हम तीनों भी नहीं चल रहे हैं, इसके कारण हम स्वर्ग और अर्थ दोनोंसे वंचित हो आपके सुकृतोंका स्मरण करते हुए दिन- रात शोकाग्निमें जलते रहेंगे
yad vai tvāṃ nānugacchāmas tena dhakṣyāmahe vayam | tat svargahīnā hīnārthāḥ smarantaḥ sukṛtasya te ||
Sañjaya berkata: “Jika benar kami tidak mengikuti engkau, maka oleh kesalahan itu sendiri kami akan binasa. Kehilangan surga dan tanpa segala perolehan yang layak, wahai Raja, kami akan terus mengenang kebajikanmu dan siang-malam terbakar dalam api duka.”
