Duryodhana’s Final Condition, Lamentation, and the Night’s Report
भयान्नमन्ति राजानो यस्य सम शतसंघश: । स वीरशयमने शेते क्रव्याद्धि: परिवारित:,जिनके आगे सैकड़ों राजा भयसे सिर झुकाते थे, वे ही आज हिंसक जन्तुओंसे घिरे हुए वीर-शय्यापर सो रहे हैं
bhayān namanti rājāno yasya samaśatasaṅghaśaḥ | sa vīraśayane śete kravyāddhiḥ parivāritaḥ ||
Di hadapannya raja-raja beratus-ratus menundukkan kepala karena takut; namun kini pahlawan itu terbaring di ranjang ksatria, dikepung makhluk pemakan daging.
कृप उवाच
The verse highlights the impermanence of worldly power and the ethical horror of war: those once feared and honored can quickly become helpless bodies on the battlefield, exposed to indignity and decay.
Kṛpa laments the fallen warrior(s) after the night of slaughter, contrasting their former majesty—before whom many kings bowed—with their present state: lying on the battlefield, surrounded by scavengers.
