Aśvatthāmā’s Buddhi-Doctrine and Nocturnal Incursion Resolve (अश्वत्थाम्नः बुद्धिविचारः सौप्तिकसंकल्पश्च)

उपजाता व्यसनजा येयमद्य मतिर्मम । युवयोस्तां प्रवक्ष्यामि मम शोकविनाशिनीम्‌,आज संकटमें पड़नेसे मेरे अंदर जो बुद्धि पैदा हुई है, उसे मैं आप दोनोंको बता रहा हूँ। वह मेरे शोकका विनाश करनेवाली है

upajātā vyasanajā yeyam adya matir mama | yuvayos tāṁ pravakṣyāmi mama śokavināśinīm ||

Hari ini, di tengah bencana, telah bangkit dalam diriku suatu tekad. Akan kukatakan kepada kalian berdua—pemahaman yang lahir dari kesengsaraan ini, yang sanggup melenyapkan dukaku.
