Brahmaśirastra-pratisaṃhāra — Retraction and redirection of the supreme weapon
Sauptika Parva, Adhyāya 15
पाण्डवास्त्व॑ं च राष्ट्र च सदा संरक्ष्यमेव हि | तस्मात् संहर दिव्यं त्वमस्त्रमेतन्महाभुज
pāṇḍavās tvaṃ ca rāṣṭraṃ ca sadā saṃrakṣyam eva hi | tasmāt saṃhara divyaṃ tvam astram etan mahābhuja mahābāho ||
Engkau wajib senantiasa melindungi para Pāṇḍava, dirimu sendiri, dan kerajaan ini. Karena itu, wahai yang berlengan perkasa, tarik kembali dan kendalikan senjata ilahimu ini.
व्यास उवाच
Power must be governed by dharma: even a divine weapon should be restrained when its use threatens the rightful protection of people and the stability of the kingdom.
Vyāsa addresses a mighty warrior and urges him to safeguard the Pāṇḍavas, himself, and the realm; to prevent further harm, he commands the warrior to withdraw the invoked divine weapon.
