Counsel at the Point of Departure

The chapter-colophon highlights a central ethical lesson of the Dyūta episode: when power is used to legitimize coercion and public humiliation, dharma collapses at the very institution meant to uphold it (the royal assembly). The narrative frames Draupadī’s being dragged into court as a paradigmatic act of adharma with far-reaching consequences.
This is a concluding statement (colophon-style) marking the end of the sixty-eighth chapter within the Dyūta section of Sabhā Parva. It identifies the chapter’s subject as Draupadī being forcibly brought/dragged into the full assembly, a pivotal moment in the court that intensifies the conflict and sets the stage for later retaliation and war.
