अलं द्यूतेन गान्धारे विदुरो न प्रशंसति । न हासौ सुमहाबुद्धिरहितं नो वदिष्यति,'गान्धारीनन्दन! जूएका खेल नहीं होना चाहिये, विदुर इसे अच्छा नहीं बताते हैं। महाबुद्धिमान् विदुर हमें कोई ऐसी सलाह नहीं देंगे, जिससे हमलोगोंका अहित होनेवाला हो
alaṁ dyūtena gāndhāre viduro na praśaṁsati | na hāsau sumahābuddhir ahitaṁ no vadiṣyati ||
Cukuplah berjudi, wahai Gāndhāra; Vidura tidak menyetujuinya. Ia yang sangat bijaksana takkan pernah menasihati kita dengan sesuatu yang membawa celaka.
