Nārada’s Examination of Royal Ethics
कच्चित् ते सफला वेदा: कच्चित् ते सफलं धनम् । कच्चित् ते सफला दारा: कच्चित् ते सफलं श्रुतम्,क्या तुम्हारे वेद सफल हैं? कया तुम्हारा धन सफल है? क्या तुम्हारी स्त्री सफल है? और क्या तुम्हारा शास्त्रज्ञान सफल है?
kaccit te saphalā vedāḥ kaccit te saphalaṃ dhanam | kaccit te saphalā dārāḥ kaccit te saphalaṃ śrutam ||
Nārada berkata: “Apakah Weda-wedamu sungguh berbuah? Apakah kekayaanmu dipakai dengan layak? Apakah kehidupan rumah tangga dan pernikahanmu berbuah? Dan apakah ‘śruta’—ilmu yang engkau dengar dan pelajari—menjadi efektif?”
