Dyūta-kathā-praśnaḥ — Inquiry into the Dice-Game Calamity
The verse emphasizes restraint in speech (avoiding harsh words) and disciplined conduct—accepting guidance from one’s kin/elders and engaging in service by fulfilling legitimate requests without resentment.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a vow-like statement is presented: the speaker resolves to refrain from bitter speech toward brothers and other rulers and to remain under the direction of relatives, actively providing what they ask—signaling submission, conciliation, and dutiful service within a tense royal-family context.
